What a great weekend!
Firstly, thanks to Pat and Rob for all of their organizational efforts and skills. Wow!
Thanks to ALL of the volunteers for their help - it can't be done without you and we appreciate it.
Every one of you makes a difference regardless of what you do.
Thanks to Velocity Cycle for the draw prizes.
Congratulations to all club members who participated and had fun (to varying degrees) racing this weekend. Special congrats to Rod for winning the overall GC in Cat 5 (and now moving to Cat 4) and Shane Frahm for a strong 6th place in the RR on what was a tough day if you couldn't find protection.
If I missed saying thanks to anybody or congratulating anybody, that's my fault and nobody else's.

A large contingent of Velocity riders made the annual trek to Saskatoon for the Bikes on Broadway stage race, and we didn't come home empty handed.
Rod Tiedemann followed up on his Velocity Stage Race results with a win in the prologue TT and second in the road race; good enough for second overall and a pass on to Category 3.
Shane Frahm had another strong showing with a fourth place finish in the road race and sixth in a truly miserable crit.

It was a hot hot day for racing; much better to play in the lake than race around it, but race around it we did.
Velocity was well represented with riders in Cat. 5, 4, 3, & Women's B.
The Cat. 5 race was marred by yet another finishing stretch crash, dashing the hopes of our Ryan Peterson among many others. Kudos to Logan Brauer for his 10th place in Cat. 5; watch for many good results from Logan in the future.

A fine weekend of racing was had at the Devon Grand Prix.
Congratulations to Tara Whitten for her dominating performance; she handily won all three events and, obviously, the overall in Women's B.
Special congrats to a second claim member are in order as well; Ed Heacock (EMCC) embarrassed the majority of the Cat. 4 field on his way to fine second place in the ITT.

The Velocity Shish-ka-bob was a huge success with 61 riders coming out over the course of the two day event.
Logan Brauer was showing fine form with a handful of seconds and thirds, good enough for third on omnium in Cat. 5.
Tara Whitten also showed some of her potential on the track in her battles with a tag-team from Synergy.

Tara Whitten continued her progression up the track racing field at Provincials. She won the Pursuit, Sprint, 500m, & Keirin with a second in the Scratch Race and third in the Points Race to handily win the Elite Women's Power Omnium with a close second in Endurance Omnium.
Congratulations also go out to second claim member Ed Heacock (EMCC) for his fine performances on route to overall victory in the Master's C division.

Congratulations to Tara Whitten. She did Alberta and the Velocity Cycling Club proud with her performances at Nationals. As a near rookie on the velodrome she went to Nationals, with borrowed wheels and an old bike that's a bit too big, and came home with second places in the Pursuit and Points Race and the National Championships in the Sprint and Omnium. Way to go Tara!
